On a surf and ski trip across California, Rumpl's founders slept in a Van, several miles down a dirt road near a secret hot spring.They awoke the next morning to sub-zero temperatures and a car that wouldn't start.Without cell phone reception and faced with an incredibly long walk back to town, they decided to bundle up in their sleeping bags and drink whisky while waiting for someone else to show up. Returning from their trip and borrowing a sewing machine, the first Rumpl "Puffy" blankets were hand-sewn in a cramped San Francisco apartment.The Rumpl brand was born!
